About Abhinav Goyal
Abhinav (Abhi) Goyal is the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Migration Centre of Australia, leading the practice founded by Praveen Goyal as its second-generation principal. He is credentialled in both major migration jurisdictions in the region, as a Registered Migration Agent in Australia (MARN 1800208) and a Licensed Immigration Adviser in New Zealand (Licence No. 202504962), enabling him to advise employers operating on both sides of the Tasman under a single, coordinated strategy rather than through separate advisers in each country.
Abhi has worked in the migration industry since 2011, joined the practice full-time in 2016, and has practised as a Registered Migration Agent since 2018. He is responsible for the firm’s strategic direction, practice standards and corporate advisory function.
His practice specialises in employer-sponsored and family visa strategy. Abhi advises corporate sponsors and skilled applicants across temporary and permanent employer-sponsored visa pathways, regional employer-sponsored visas, designated area migration agreement pathways, training visas, and Australia’s innovation visa category. On the New Zealand side, he advises on employer accreditation and the Accredited Employer Work Visa. His advisory work extends to nomination strategy and structuring, Accredited Sponsorship, Skilling Australians Fund levy obligations, Fair Work high income threshold considerations, ANZSCO and OSCA occupation classification, and skills assessment and recognition of prior learning pathways.
A substantial part of Abhi’s work involves sponsorship within complex corporate structures, including group and associated-entity nominations, restructures, and cross-border employment arrangements where the identity of the sponsoring entity and the substance of the employment relationship are not straightforward. He acts for a client base spanning early-stage start-ups, established small and medium enterprises, large domestic corporates and multinational employers, advising each on sponsorship strategy appropriate to its scale and structure. Where a matter extends beyond migration, he coordinates with tax and employment law specialists while retaining the substantive migration framing himself.
Alongside his practice, Abhi teaches immigration law as a continuing professional development presenter for McKkr’s, one of Australia’s largest providers of immigration law CPD, which has delivered training to thousands of practitioners. His sessions are built around detailed case studies, working through complex scenarios with registered migration agents and legal practitioners rather than lecturing from legislation alone.
Abhi maintains close engagement with the policy and labour market settings that shape sponsorship outcomes, including Jobs and Skills Australia reporting, shortage-rated occupation trends and occupation list reform. As Chief Executive Officer he leads a multidisciplinary team of admitted solicitors and registered migration agents, and remains directly involved in the firm’s most complex matters. He is known for direct, commercially grounded advice, identifying the technical and procedural issues that determine an outcome, and giving clients a realistic view of their position rather than an optimistic one.
