Yes, you read it right! You can now get your visa cancelled if you are not careful enough about what you post on social media!
There has been new migration regulations that came into effect on the 18th of November that say that the Immigration minister now has the authority to cancel visas if there is proof of the applicant either being involved in any kind of:
- hate speech
- bullying or online threat
What does that mean for you and your social media posting?
For you this means that your social media accounts, such as facebook, twitter and co. will be monitored and the content of your posts will be considered evidence if accusations or allegations are made against you. This evidence can result in immediate visa cancellation as well as a ban on future travels to Australia.
